Who is allowed to display the CQA Seal?

Almost a century ago Good Housekeeping introduced their Seal of Approval to investigate and educate consumers about the thousands of products available for the care of the family home.

In-home care for aging family members has been around for over a century. Yet until 2009, there has never been a standardized Seal of Approval to help families when trying to choose the right home care company to care for their loved ones.

Even today with the CQA Seal it's not a perfect system. There will always be challenges in finding the right caregivers. However, we know one thing is true ... having a team of quality caregivers starts by recruiting and selecting only the most talented applicants.

Leading Home Care's Private Duty Caregiver Selection System is an online pre-employment assessment that helps companies identify caregivers with strong work ethics, high integrity, and key personality traits. Companies using this system are able to pre-screen applicants and match personality traits for optimum customer/caregiver relationships.

The CQA Seal takes the Caregiver Selection System to the next level. Every company displaying the CQA Seal must meet these standards.

To display the seal, you must ...

  • screen applicants using the Caregiver Selection System which includes:
    • workplace attitude assessment that measures three core traits - dependability, honesty and aggression
    • personality assessment that measures six core traits - conscientiousness, tough minded, conventional, extroversion, stable and teamwork
    • cognitive reasoning assessment that measures problem solving and learning speed
  • apply the 9-STEP Process for Hiring Quality Caregivers
  • publicly display other screening practices including:
    • criminal background checks
    • substance abuse testing practices
    • elder/child abuse screenings
    • driving record screenings
    • reference check policies
  • publicly display minimum education requirements for caregivers
  • publicly display supervisory practices for ongoing quality assurance
  • provide a client rights and responsibilities statement in writing upon acceptance of a new client
  • comply with federal, state and local labor laws regarding employment, workers' compensation, overtime wages and workplace safety

If you’re willing to make a personal commitment to apply these standards to your business, you too can display the CQA Seal on your website, on your brochures, and on your promotional materials.

You’ll also be listed on our Care Locator so that consumers who are looking for a high quality home care company in your community will find you.
